My Addiction with Vans

Ok so I have an addiction. I love vans shoes. Seriously. Starting in 8th grade I have loved them. For a long time I owned 4 pairs. But just today I bought my 5th pair. And they are incredibly bright. Like neon yellow. Why? Oh because when I go to school I can only wear black. Black pants. Black shirts. That is all I have been buying for school. So I decided I was going to get the brightest vans in the store.

Would you say those are bright enough?

And guess what?! I conviced my sister Erika to get vans for her school shoes. Her very first pair of vans. I am so proud. The camera didn't do this color justice. It is like a dark minty green. It is called "pool green"

And since I spent over 50 dollars they gave me this pretty ugly bag. I am thinking I will use it for a first aid kit in my car or something.

Oh and in the check out line I saw these little key chains. How cool is that!!!? It is so incredibly detailed like a real vans shoe as well. If you want to see it up close then just ask to see my keys. I won't tell you how much I spent on it though...;)

So that's my little addiction for you. I love vans. Love love love love love love love them.

The Whopper-My Style

So I just thought it would be funny to tell you guys about my weird obsession with Burker King's whoppers. However, I get my own very special kind of whopper.

I eat mine plain, with only mustard.Yep. Just mustard. Guess who I got that from? My mom. So i'm not alone with this. I'm sorry if that looks nasty. To me? It looks like heaven in a warm toasted bun. Mmm. . .

But that is not all! I hold my burger like so. Yes, upside down. Why? Oh I don't know... but my mom eats it like that as well!!! Weird, I know. I can't help it. I haven't always eaten it like this either, but for a long time.

Go ahead, try it sometime. If you want though. You are probably just thinking about how weird and disgusting I am for this weird habit ;)

Mom's Birthday

Yesterday was my mom's birthday! It was a pretty fun day :) We started off by going to the Dinosaur Museum and Thanksgiving Point. I didn't want to go at first, but it really was a lot of fun. I am always amazed at how big the dinosaurs were. That was a lot of fun.

We ate dinner at The Training Table in Murray (since our precious Provo one closed down :(. . . ) It was super delicious, as always. And we then stopped at Ikea since we were in the area. My mom found a sofa that she likes and will be getting it soon. Super exciting.

When we came home we had cake and icecream, and played a little Phase 10. Classic.

Erika made this super cute cake :) It's a little lopsided, and she wanted to be british so she said "mum". Adorable. I wrote Happy.

This is us lighting the candles.  I know what you're thinking. My face is awesome.

 Mom and her cake :)

 Blowing the candles.

Shuffling the phase cards. So fun.

It was lots of fun! Hope you had a good birthday Mom.

Organized Bakery

My mom's birthday is tomorrow and for her present I decided to organize her bakery (a cupboard with plugs for mixers and blenders and stuff) because it is constantly messy. It is an easy place to hide junk that we are too lazy to put away. . .I'm guilty of that. So for a solution, I bought different things to make it cute and easy to stay organized. Here are the pics! :

This is the bakery all cleaned and wiped out. I should have taken a before picture, but I didn't think to! :( Oh well. . .

Here is the picture with everything in it all organized and in place!

This is the top shelf, which is the easiest place to get crazy messy.

These are two office organizer things I found at Target (seriously love that place, I have a problem) The blue one is for large loose recipes and smaller recipe books that like to tip over and make life difficult. The tan one is the place for all instruction manuals. I thought it would be good to have those all in one place.

And this smaller tan one is for the small recipe cards. If my mom decides to get a recipe box for them, then this thing has dividers that split it up into 4 sections that she could use for pens or something. I just liked it, so I got it. Again, Target.

We like to keep Kujo's food in here because it keeps it from being on the counter, and it is also a very convenient place to keep it because Kujo's food is just on the floor around the corner from the bakery. We already had these containers. By the way, Kujo knows the sound of her treat jar from a mile away. It is just too cute.

And this is below by the mixer and blender. It is holding all the different parts for those. The dough hook was escpecially tricky to fit in there, but I did it. So it's all in there. Except for the blender blades. I didn't think that would be the optimum place to store those ;) Isn't that such a cute little bin? It velcros (spelling?) down to keep those parts clean, and it is super cute. Love.

So happy birthday mom! I hope you enjoy your organized bakery. Keep it clean, I mean it. . . And happy birthday tomorrow! I will definitely have to blog about that :) I"m obsessed.

IKEA Shopping Spree

The other day my mom, my sister Erika, and I went to IKEA because I wanted to buy the things I needed for college. Just kitchen stuff. I just wanted to share some of the fun stuff I got. I am so excited. Don't laugh.

This first picture is a cookie sheet, 6 muffin tin, measuring cups and measuring spoons.

Knives and a dish scrubber. Have you seen these scrubbers from IKEA? They have a suction cup on the bottom of them so you can stick them on the counter by the sink. It's so nice and convenient. We have one and it is so awesome. The knives came with their own little holder thing too. Pretty nice.

Below are some utensils. A spoon, pasta thing (what is that called?...), slotted spoon, ladle, spatula, and tongs. The orange things are stuff that Josh had while in college, and I am stealing them. Haha. The green ones were like $1 or $2 at ikea.

This is a colander, can opener, rubber spatula, and 2 different kinds of whisks. Ikea, cheap and cool.

These are things of Josh's again. But I will use them. A pitcher, plates, bowls, and cups.

And this is Josh's crockpot. I don't know if he used it more than 2 times. I will use it more. I am excited about this.

So yeah, that is all the cool stuff I got! Now I am ready to cook. I have a little recipe book with easy recipes. Thanks for reading! Have a good day :)

Fall Plans

Alright, a lot of people have been asking. My plans for the fall are decided :) I originally was going to go to UVU and do generals unti I figured out "which path to follow". I have decided that I am going to Paul Mitchell hair school. Ever since I was a little girl I have done my own hair and loved it. It didn't always look good, but hey, I was like 4.

I kind of changed my mind in high school and was going to do dental hygiene, but I really don't want to do that. It took me a little while to come to that decision. I feel like I convinced myself to do that because of the money I would make :) Not the best idea.

So on September 17 I start at Paul Mitchell. I will also be living at Glenwood apartments (by BYU) and will be rooming with my cousin/best friend Rosie. I am beyond excited. And a little scared. I can't wait for fall! Don't hate, but I am already counting down to when I can move out. Just over 5 more weeks :)

Have a great day everyone!!

Happy Birthday, Julie!

A couple of weeks ago in my email from Josh he asked me if I would get him some flowers for friend Julie. He told me that I needed to find the prettiest flowers ever. No pressure, right? He also told me that he wanted me to arrange the flowers myself because my plans to go to BYU-I for floral design didn't work out. It's a long and annoying story, so if you want to hear it just ask me :(
Anyways, so I went to Target to buy some flowers. I have always been impressed with the high quality of their flowers, and not bad prices either!! I bought a few different bunches of flowers so make into one AMAZING arrangement ;)

Below are some pictures of the final product. Enjoy! By the way, the vase is a triangular shape. Very cool and unique. Thanks to my mom for choosing it.

And some close-ups of my favorite flowers :)

Below is my absolute favorite. It's kinda funky and weird. Anyone know what it is called? I want to know. In love ;)

Another beauty. Can you tell I love the close-up feature on this camera?...

Here is a picture of Julie in her cute little ranger outfit smelling her flowers from Josh :)

I hope you had a great birthday Julie! I really enjoyed doing this for you on Josh's behalf. I will be sending these pictures to Josh for him to enjoy :)

S'mores Cookies

So while my family was at church today I decided to make these delicious looking s'mores cookies that I saw on Pinterest. I was feeling uplifted and charitable after church, and found myself making these. Yum.

Except the recipe called for little tiny marshmallows that I did not have. So, being my oh-so-creative self thought, "Oh I could just rip apart big marshmallows and that'll work!"

No no no...It didn't work. The marshmallows just turned to liquid and caramelized. So for the next pan I cooked I didn't keep them in as long. That turned out a little better. I must say these cookies are delicious. But due to the lack of marshmallow (because they melted away) and the abundance of chocolate chips, they just taste like graham cracker chocolate chips...but still yummy!!

These are my cute little cookies just about to enter the warm and cozy oven!

My precious little cookies half way through the cooking process.

The Food Network worthy looking cookies cooling off from the hot day of work in the oven.

And now....the finished product displayed on a plate. I tried to make them look cute, but oh well. This is as good as they're gonna get ;)

Now here is the recipe if you want to make them!

1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/3 cups flour
3/4 cup graham cracker crumbs (7 full graham cracker sheets)
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup Mini Hershey’s Kisses (or chocolate chips/chunks)
1 cup Jet Puffed Mallow Bits

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and spray with cooking spray. Using a mixer, cream the butter and sugars until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes. Add the egg and vanilla and beat for an additional 2 minutes.
Meanwhile, use a food processor or blender to crush 7 graham cracker sheets into 3/4 cup fine crumbs. In a separate bowl, whisk together the graham cracker crumbs, flour, baking powder, and salt. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, and mix on low speed until the dough just comes together. Add the chocolate and marshmallows and stir to combine.
Place 1.5 tablespoon sized scoops of dough onto the prepared cookie sheet. Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes.

Makes 2 dozen cookies.
